Comfort

1 December 2010

When you need comfort...

Life... can be really difficult sometimes. It can start to get you down... you’re worrying, you’re stressing out, you’ve got to do this and you’ve got to do that... and you just DON’T feel COMFORTABLE anymore. It’s times like these when we really appreciate some comfort...

 2 Corinthians 1 v 3 says;

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort”

 Mhmmmm... “the source of all comfort”... Well, I’m pretty certain that means we can get alot, alot, alot of comfort from God... It’s more than just a little cheer or friendly word of encouragement. Comfort basically means “to strengthen.”  or to”relieve suffering or worry.”

 Psalm 37 v 23 -24 says;

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them in by the hand”

For those people who sincerely put their trust in the Lord by committing their life to him, God’s strength and comfort is available to them for help in their time of need. God knows that we will stumble at times by not completely walking in his way. God is merciful, loving, forgiving and kind. For a moment, we may feel or even think, that we have fallen away from the Lord, this is not true. His strong hand is always reaching out to us to help us stay on firm ground, he holds us up when we stumble. He will carry us through the bad times and walk by our side in the good times.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
