Love? (1)
1 February 2011
Love? What is Love? The dictionary defines Love as “a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person” And “affectionate concern for the well-being of others”. Wikipedia describes Love as “the emotion of strong affection and personal attachment”, can you really define Love?
1 Corinthians 13 v 4 says; “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud”.
This verse is telling us that Love is bearing with someone’s worst behaviour, that it is finding ways to be useful to another person. These can both be hard, particularly being patient after a hard day. Someone just says one tiny thing and you snap. Nuhuh. Loving someone can be definitely be hard work, but its well worth it. This verse also says that Love is delighting in the praise that someone else receives and knows that everyone is equally important. Again, hard work. We live in a world full of racial discrimination and abuse. So where is the Love?
