Is Valentines day all about cupid, flowers and chocolate?
Some history about Valentines day, there are many different opinions about the origin of the tradition of Valentines Day. Some experts conclude St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Some people think that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". And that in 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine. Throughout history Valentines Day evolved from celebrating St.Valentine to expressing your love by love messages. Over time St.Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. In modern day; cards, flowers and chocolate are now traditionally given on Valentines day. There are also people who give these gifts in secret admirance, and adopted "From Your Valentine" of a way to sending it in secret! But for those who are single, it can seem like a lonely day, but whether we are single, or in a relationship let's remember that Gods love is for everyone, it's never failing and full of mercy! God's love is everlasting as it says in Jeremiah,
Jeremiah 31:3: The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
So this Valentines Day, instead of feeling lonely, rejoice and remember God's love is everlasting, unfailing and will always love us! After the flowers have died, the chocolates have all been munched, God's perfect love will last forever!
