Loving God(4)
25 February 2011
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.
(1 John 3 vs 18-19)
The saying is 'actions speak louder than words' and when we've looked at love we see it explained as an action. Can we really say I love you to someone, but then you treat them with disrespect, is that really love? As Christians we read in the Bible the importance of living a Christ-like life. What we say has an important impact, but not as important as our actions. We should model our own lives on Jesus'. He loved unconditionally even when he was abused, ignored and betrayed, yet amongst all of this he still went out of his way to help others. His actions of love spoke and still speak to the world today. If someone told you that you were their best friend, but then spoke about you to your other friends behind your back, could you forgive them and in return for their cruelty just love them? If not, lets pray that God will give us the ability to love them even when it gets really hard. As it says in 1 John, one day we will all stand before God, lets live a life we can be proud to tell God about.
