Is it always easy?

14 September 2011

“Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything. If you need wisdom -- if you want to know what God wants you to do -- ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.” James 1 v 2-4

Life isn’t always easy, we all face challenges in different situations. Some are easier than others to overcome, but as we face each challenge we are given an opportunity to grow stronger. There are times though when we may find ourselves struggling and when we are, we shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes it can feel easier to just do everything ourselves, without asking for help… I know, because I’m one of those people that usually prefers to do everything myself, no matter how hard it is or how much it’s challenging me, but there are times when our strength is failing and we should be and we need to be asking for help, but we might say; what if God doesn’t listen? Or my problem isn’t big enough… it’s only a small thing… But let me say to you… there is no limit on prayer… Prayer is a powerful tool; big requests, small requests, and all sizes in between are welcomed by God.  Phillipians 4 v 6 says;

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by Prayer and petition, present your requests to God”

It doesn’t matter what it is that’s troubling us; we should never be afraid of asking God for help. He’s always there ready to listen, ready to help, He’s just waiting for us to ask.

God allows us to face challenges, not only to help us grow but because we can use them as opportunities to witness to other’s about God’s love, about the help and strength He has given us to face the tough times. God won’t leave you on your own, He’s there beside you, every step of the way.
